Human Resource Specialist I (Retirement and Benefits)

Location: This is a remote position.

***This position requires an active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance to be considered. ***

Description:

OBAN Corporation is seeking a HR Specialist I to support a federal agency client. The HR Specialist I will provide consultative services, advice, guidance and assistance to employees and managers of FDA in the areas of employee benefits, work life programs and Reasonable Accommodations. The HR Specialist I will be part of a new centralized shared services model team. The role will focus on the following but not limited to:

  • Retirement planning (voluntary retirement, early retirement, disability retirement and death in service); employee benefits and work life programs.
  • Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) and High-Deductible Health Plans (HDHP) with Health Savings Accounts (HSA); Flexible Savings Accounts (FSA) including health care, limited expense health care and dependent care programs.
  • Federal Employee Group Life Insurance (FEGLI); long term care insurance.
  • Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and reasonable accommodations; Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (VLTP), and worker’s compensation.
  • Informational forums participation sponsored by OPM, providers, or other groups.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience within a federal agency environment.
  • Experience with retirement and benefits administration in the federal sector.
  • Current knowledge of all federal benefits administration and work life programs.
  • Working knowledge of federal HR laws and regulations relative to retirement and benefits.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to navigate complex situations and provide effective solutions.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Ethical and professional conduct with a commitment to confidentiality and integrity.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), human resources information systems (HRIS) and other relevant software.
  • Experience working in a shared services model team is a plus.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required government security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizen.
